Measure the weights of particles in the upper stream and lower stream in a test filter respectively and determine their collection efficiency according to the percentages through the installed filter. As one of those methods, AFI(Air Filter Institute) is normally used.
Colorimetry method
Air sample shall be absorbed and collected from test filtration papers in the upper stream and lower stream in a test filter at the same air volume and the particles in samples may be left on a test filtration paper. As its methods, there are used NBS, ASHRAE and etc.
Counter method
Using a light scattering type particle counter, measure particle's size in particles scattered light of the upper and lower stream of a test filter and get a concentration to calculate collection efficiencies. As one of its methods, the method using D.O.P CDI as a test particle of US army's STD, MIL SAD282 is normally used.
